About The Founder

Michael W. Malley founded CRM Group in May 1988, in an effort to provide ophthalmologists the personalized consulting and marketing expertise required to compete in today’s rapidly changing and highly competitive medical environment. His ‘hands-on’ expertise and knowledge was gained in the early 80s as Director of Marketing for one of the country’s leading eye surgeons, whose annual marketing budget exceeded $2 million dollars.

Mr. Malley attended Ball State University in Indiana on an athletic scholarship and graduated in 1982 with a degree in journalism/ communications, which was then followed up with a brief career as a professional volleyball player in Europe. His years of experience as a journalist - followed by a career in public relations at the prestigious Goldman & Company in Houston - provided an ideal background for the creative skills and communicative expertise required to launch CRM Group in 1988.

During the early '90s, Mr. Malley worked closely with the Federal Trade Commission in an effort to revise written advertising guidelines for the refractive industry, which were initially based on the original PERK Study. Today, he is a featured lecturer at many of the international ocular symposiums and has authored articles in several of the leading ophthalmic trade journals.

CRM Group has served as ‘agency of record’ for such leading refractive surgeons as Ralph Berkeley, M.D. in Houston, Steven Brint, M.D. in New Orleans, Harold Stein, M.D. in Toronto, David Dulaney, M.D. in Phoenix, David Brown, M.D. in Ft. Meyers and several other leading practices in North America. CRM Group remains a private, referral-based firm who in 12 years has never found the need to advertise its services.

To maintain its objectivity in the marketplace, Mr. Malley and CRM Group are not affiliated with any Excimer laser manufacturer, lens company or medical organization. CRM Group grants total market exclusivity to all clients.
